What are the documents needed for Machine Readable Passport (MRP)?
Ans : In case of completely new passport application and conversion from Hand Written passport to MRP is made:
- Filled-up 4 page application form (form can be downloaded from here www.dip.gov.bd ) . This application form needs to be pre-enrolled through online and then get the print of it. The online link is www.passport.gov.bd
- Two recent photographs of passport size.
- Proof of nationality such as National Identity Card or Birth Certificate.
- Passport fee payment receipt.
- Copy of Hand written passport (for those who want to convert Hand written to MRP).Original Handwritten Passport must be presented at time of application submission.
- Visa copy.
In Case of Passport Re-Issue:
Q: What is the passport fee and its payment method?
Passport Fee:
Passport fee is RM 385. But for student and General Worker the fee is RM 116. If anyone avails the opportunity of paying the fee of RM 116, he/she must have to attach appropriate supporting document such as visa copy as proof of their claim being student or general worker. As for illustration, if an applicant holds Professional Visa, he/she is to pay RM 385.
Payment Method:
Passport fee have to pay in May Bank, Account Name : Bangladesh High Commission, Account Number : 564427102268. Any online fund transfer, ATM transfer, Bank Cheque/ Draft is not acceptable. May Bank Yellow Cash payment slip is only accepted.
Q: How long does it take to get a passport?
In case of re-issuing a passport where the application is made with complete valid documents, passport may be ready to collect with in the stipulated time mentioned in the Passport Receiving Slip.
For completely new enrolment, it depends on how fast the police verification is done and also subject to provided documents and information at the time of application submission was valid.
Those MRP application that fall under AFIS/DEMO, or any re-issue justification, it will take extended time to be printed.

What is AFIS/DEMO?
AFIS:
If you had done a MRP before but even though concealing that information if you do again the application for new MRP, the computer server of MRP system can detects it while in back-end verification stage and stops the application process from further proceeding.
Passport will not be printed then.
DEMO:
If your information completely matches with any other person, or your birth certificate or National Identity number matches with any other or your previous passport number matches with any other person, then the computer server of the MRP system immediately can detect it and stops the processing for printing the passport.

How can we check the status of our passport application once applied?
You can check the status by clicking www.dip.gov.bd , you need to put the delivery slip number and your birth date there. You also can check the status from the face book page of Bangladesh High Commission, Kuala Lumpur.
